  • Prof Anupam Sibal is the Group Medical Director of the Apollo Hospitals Group.
  • He is a Senior Consultant Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi since 1997
  • He served as President of Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) 2020 - 2022. GAPIO aims to bring together 1.4 million physicians of Indian origin in the world on one professional platform from 57 countries.
  • He was appointed as Honorary Clinical Professor at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia in 2015
  • He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia from 2009 - 2015
  • He served as a Member of the Institute Body (IB) of Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, (PGIMER) Chandigarh from 2009 – 2014 (IB is the highest decision-making body of PGIMER headed by the Union Cabinet Minister for Health)
  • He is a Member of the Regional Middle East International Advisory Board of Joint Commission International (JCI) since 2011

Achievements:

  • He helped establish the division of pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology, the first in the private sector in India at Apollo Hospital, Delhi in 1997
  • He helped set up the first successful pediatric liver transplant program in India in 1998 at Apollo Hospitals, Delhi
  • Sanjay, the first child in India to have received a successful liver transplant at the age of 20 months in November 1998 is now working as a resident doctor
  • The Apollo Transplant Program has performed more than 4600  liver transplants in patients from 50 countries of which more than 570 have been children
